A lot of people have asked what it was like right before the procedure. Was I more excited or nervous? How did I feel? I was definitely nervous. In some ways, I couldn't believe it was actually happening. It was exciting to have finally gone through the tests and signed the papers ... I was ready to get on with it. But, as the final moments approached, nervousness crept in. I remember even considering backing out at one point. Looking back, however, I'm so glad I didn't ... those things don't even seem worth worrying about now.
The vast experience of the doctor, the number of times he's done the procedure, the incredible success rate, the amount of tests they do beforehand — what is there to be afraid of? The procedure is incredibly short, especially compared to the many years of great vision afterwards. It's a fear I'm very glad I overcame. I know I would be regretting it if I had decided not to have the procedure.
